Abstract(s)
Objective: To evaluate the relevance of the use of fibrin-rich platelets in comparation with the connective tissue graft for the treatment of gingival recession. Materials and Methods: A literature search was carried out using the PubMed database. Only randomized clinical trials were included, without temporal limits and without linguistic limits. The search resulted in a total of 7 items. Results: By analyzing the authors’ results in a non-statistical way, platelet-rich fibrin was efficient in the treatment of Miller's class I and II gingival recessions and eventually superior to the connective tissue graft about clinical attachment loss and the depth of periodontal probing. Conclusion: More studies, preferably randomized clinical trials studies with larger samples, well-delineated and uniform protocols, and longer follow-up are required to scientifically support the beneficial effect of platelet-rich fibrin.
