Abstract(s)
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of eccentric exercise in the treatment of Achilles tendinopathy. Methodology: Research on computerized databases on Pubmed, and in the search engine b-on to identify and select experimental trials using eccentric exercise as a way to treatment for Achilles tendinopathy. Results: It was included 9 studies involving 293 subjects. Nine studies used compare the effectiveness of eccentric exercise with other treatment techniques. Conclusions: After the evidence analyzed it appears that eccentric exercise is a promising therapeutic approach in patients with tendinopathy of Achilles. This type of exercise is effective in significantly reducing pain, increasing functional capacity and improving performance. The level of the tendon and paratendon microcirculation eccentric exercise contributes to the increase of collagen synthesis, shows no adverse effect, and has better long-term results.
