Abstract(s)
tempo.
The present monograph falls under the discipline of Graduation Project of the 4th Degree of Nursing Degree, Fernando Pessoa University entitled "Adherence of the child and family to the therapeutic regimen of Diabetes Mellitus Type I" aims to analyze which nursing interventions are performed in consultation with family members and children with chronic disease I in favor of adherence to the therapeutic regimen, to know the main difficulties that these professionals feel in the consultation, and what are the main feelings expressed by the child and the family in relation to the diagnosis. An exploratory-descriptive study was developed, inserted in a qualitative approach, using a probabilistic sample of nurses. The data collection method used was the semi-structured interview. The impact of chronic illness on both the child and the parents often leads to a biological, psychological or cognitive disorder. There is a need for a family adaptation to the state of health of the child which often constitutes a long and difficult route because the whole family routine will focus on the new health condition of the child. At the time of diagnosis the main feelings expressed are: guilt, fear, revolt and sadness. It was verified that the nurses have a fundamental role for the management, adhesion and education of diabetes. It was possible through the study to verify that despite the continuous training that these professionals attend throughout their career there are still barriers to their professional practice such as the lack of privacy, the high number of patients and the availability of time.
