A perda de dentes maxilares posteriores e a subsequente pneumatização do seio maxilar resultam em atrofia do osso alveolar e podem afetar a reabilitação adequada de pacientes com recurso a implantes osseointegrados. Neste contexto, as cirurgias convencionais de elevação do seio maxilar tem sido e são ainda consideradas uma modalidade de tratamento eficaz, embora com algumas taxas de complicações. As técnicas cirúrgicas hidrodinâmicas de elevação parecem ser uma alternativa de tratamento válida para tentar reduzir as complicações intra e pós-operatórias. Neste sentido, o SinusPhysiolift®, com um protocolo de aplicação simples, mesmo para cirurgiões menos experientes, é uma opção de tratamento promissora. Mais estudos clínicos são necessários para estabelecer as reais vantagens desta técnica.

In this context, conventional maxillary sinus lift surgery has been considered an effective modality of treatment, although with some complication rates. Hydrodynamic surgical techniques of elevation seem to be a valid treatment alternative to try to reduce intra and postoperative complications. Hence, SinusPhysiolift®, with a simple application protocol, even for less experienced surgeons, is a promising treatment option. More clinical studies are needed to establish the real advantages of this technique.
