O artigo analisa as relações entre as infra-estruturas e o território. Em particular, procura-se compreender as novas realidades que emergem no território face à evolução do sector
infra-estrutural, que é fortemente influenciado pelas novas Tecnologias de Informação e
Comunicação (TIC).
Descrevem-se as novas características das infra-estruturas urbanas, identificando-se as principais
mudanças estruturantes. Analisam-se as relações entre as infra-estruturas, o território
e o desenvolvimento, no início de um novo ciclo caracterizado pelo fenómeno da globalização e por intensas transformações socioeconómicas e territoriais. This paper is centred on the relationship between infrastructures and space. It aims especially
to understand the new realities emerging in space given the advances made in the
infrastructure sector, which has been heavily influenced by new Information and Communications
Technology (ICT).
The paper describes the new characteristics of urban infrastructures, identifying the structural
changes. The relations among infrastructures, territory and development are analysed, at
the start of a new cycle characterised by the phenomenon of globalisation, intense socioeconomic and territorial transformations.
