Review of two major geological schools. The concepts of tectonic phase and
unconformity are discussed as well as the continuity, or discontinuity, of the tectonic
events. The consequences in Sequence Stratigraphy and Petroleum Exploration are
analyzed as the impact of ecstasy and tectonics in the creation of space available for
sediments (accommodation).
