Abstract(s)
Since its creation implantology has a high clinical success rate. Despite the good results, the incidence of complications associated with this therapeutic modality is far from negligible. The purpose of this review was to highlight the main complications related to the use of dental implants, exposing the factors that influence its appearance and treatment failures. Methodology: A research was carried out on the platforms: Pubmed, B-on and Google Scholar, about the subject using the descriptors "Implantology" "Implantology complications" "Dental implants" "Dental implants failures". Inclusion criteria were articles published in the last ten years, between 2008 and 2018, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Results: 42 papers were included in this review. Throughout the documents under analysis are reported about the most relevant type of complications, which are described in this document. Conclusion: The knowledge that comes from this study about the main complications in implantology, will help to avoid its occurrence. The most frequently observed complications were: screw loosening, fracture of prosthetic material and perimplantite.
