Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho de investigação insere-se no mestrado em ciências da
educação: educação especial e tem como tema a Transição para a Vida Ativa de Jovens
com Necessidades Educativas Especiais e foi realizado na ilha de São Jorge, Açores.
Tendo presente que muitos dos jovens com algum tipo de incapacidade, mesmo
tendo frequentado programas específicos de transição, continuam economicamente
inativos, formularam-se os objetivos gerais deste estudo:
Compreender de que forma a comunidade (família e empresários)
facilita/dificulta a integração de jovens com necessidades educativas especiais no
mercado de trabalho e compreender quais as expetativas da comunidade (família e
empresários) face ao processo de transição e integração no mercado de trabalho destes
mesmos jovens.
Foram aplicados inquéritos a trinta e seis empresários da ilha e realizadas
entrevistas a sete encarregados de educação.
Concluiu-se do estudo que embora os empresários concordem maioritariamente que os
estágios em posto de trabalho são importantes para os jovens com necessidades
educativas especiais (NEE) , 50% referem que estes jovens não conseguem desenvolver
atividades profissionais com níveis de competência idênticos aos requeridos a outros
trabalhadores,denotando uma expetativa baixa face à situação por parte dos
empregadore.
Mesmo com baixas expetativas e desconhecendo os incentivos disponíveis à
contratação de pessoas com NEE , muitos parecem dispostos a essa contratação, muito
embora os resultados obtidos para o que consideram ser o grau de competência dos
jovens com NEE tenham sido francamente baixos,
Os encarregados de educação apresentam expetativas mais positivas em relação
aos seus educandos, referindo que os seus filhos não terão qualquer dificuldade, e que
desejam que arranjem um emprego depois da escola: para aprenderem algum ofício,
ganharem algum dinheiro, adquirirem autonomia pessoal e financeira e conseguir um futuro melhor que o dos pais. Afirmam que não costumam participar nas tomadas de
decisão em relação às medidas educativas e programas educativos a aplicar aos seus
educandos tomando apenas conhecimentos destas quando já estão elaboradas e dando o
seu consentimento.
This research work is part of the master's degree in science education: special education and has as it’s theme the Transition to Active Living for Young People with Special Educational Needs and was held on the island of São Jorge, Azores. Bearing in mind that many of the young people with a disability, even having attended specific transitional programs, remain economically inactive, were formulated general objectives of this study: Understand how the community (family and employers) facilitates / hinders the integration of young people with special educational needs in the labor market and understand what the expectations of the community (family and employers) over the transition and integration into the labor market of these young people themselves. Surveys were administered to thirty-six entrepreneurs on the island and interviewed seven guardians. It was concluded from the study that although employers mostly agree that the internship in the workplace are important for young people with special educational needs (SEN), 50% reported that these young people can not develop professional activities with skill levels similar to those required to other workers, denoting a low expectation of the employers. Even with low expectations and ignoring the incentives available for employing people with special needs, many seem willing to hire this, although the results for what they consider the degree of competence of young people with SEN have been significantly lower. Parents have more positive expectations regarding their children, stating that they will not have any difficulty, they also wish that their children can find a job after school: to learn a trade, earn some money, acquire personal autonomy and financial achieve a better future than their parents. They also say that they do not usually take part in the decision making in relation to educational measures and educational programs to apply, taking knowledge only when they are already prepared and giving his consent.
