Abstract(s)
OR taping) AND pattelofemoral pain syndrome).
Objetive: To analyze the effect of Kinesio Taping (KT) on patellofemoral pain syndrome. Background: Patellar femoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the musculoskeletal disorders affecting the knee and KT has been an adjuvant technique for the treatment of this disorder. Methodology: a computerized search was performed in the database: Web of Science, Pubmed and PEDro using the key: ((Kinesio taping) OR taping) AND pattelofemoral pain syndrome). Results: 5 articles were included, of which 4 are randomized controlled with a methodological classification of 6,5 on the PEDro scale. The 5 articles integrate a total of 186 subjects in which 4 of the studies compare the efficacy of KT application with the control group and placebo group, while 1 study compared KT with exercise. The parameters evaluated were pain, functional disability, muscle strength, sense of joint position and hamstring flexibility. Conclusion: There is no consensus on the effectiveness of KT on pain and functional disability. However, KT seems to have a positive effect on hamstring flexibility Further studies are needed to demonstrate the effectiveness of KT in PFPS.
