| dc.description.abstract | Existem actualmente muitos medicamentos que são utilizados em crianças sem terem sido suficientemente estudados nestas diferentes sub-populações pediátricas, com consequências preocupantes. O reconhecimento deste facto levou à criação de regras específicas nos EUA através da FDA (Food and Drug Admnistration) e mais tarde na Europa através do EMEA (Agência Europeia do Medicamento). Na terapêutica pediátrica há frequentemente necessidade de administrar substâncias activas que apenas são disponibilizadas pela indústria farmacêutica na forma de especialidade farmacêutica com dosagens e/ou em formas farmacêuticas destinadas a adultos. Por outro lado, existe nas crianças com idade inferior a seis anos, a incapacidade em deglutir formas farmacêuticas orais sólidas. Estes são alguns dos motivos que conduzem à manipulação de fármacos em pediatria. Assim, os medicamentos manipulados têm vindo a assumir um papel de destaque neste tipo de terapêutica como forma de colmatar lacunas, em alguns casos críticas, deixadas pelos medicamentos produzidos industrialmente. Contudo, o processo de manipulação revela-se complexo, implicando ponderação de excipientes e substância(s) activa(s), de forma a encontrar formulações estáveis, seguras e eficazes, adaptadas a uma determinada faixa etária como é o da pediatria. Currently there are many medications that are being used in children, with worrying consequences, without being sufficiently studied in the different paediatrics sub-populations. The recognition of this fact let specific rules in the U.S.A. trough the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and later in Europe through the EMEA. Frequently, in the therapeutic paediatric there is a need to administrate active substances that are barely disposed by the industry pharmacist, under the pharmacist medical dosages that are destined for an adult, or the incapacity presented by the children, under the age of 6 years old, in swallowing solid medication, are some motives that drive the handling of drugs in paediatrics. In these situations, the handling drugs have come to assume an attack in these various kinds of the therapy for fill gaps, in these critical cases leaving the industrial produced medications. However, the trial of handling reveals itself complex and slow, implying through the active substances, in a form to find active and stable formulations that are efficient and dependable and easily adapted to the sub-populations as well as the paediatrics. In the scope of the work, in shows the difficulty to inherent a production of manipulated medication as in the case of chloral hydrate for paediatrics. | por |
