PPST e conjugalidade: regulação emocional, violência e satisfação conjugal em casais com historial de exposição à Guerra Colonial

O presente estudo foca-se na Perturbação Pós-Stress Traumático (PPST) e nos seus impactos ao nível da regulação emocional, violência e satisfação conjugal em casais com historial de exposição à Guerra Colonial Portuguesa (1961-1974). Dadas as dificuldades maritais sentidas por estes casais e pelo escasso investimento nesta área em Portugal, pretendeu-se com este trabalho contribuir para o conhecimento desta temática, bem como estimular o interesse em futuras investigações. Através de um estudo quantitativo, correlacional e comparativo, estudou-se o impacto da PPST sobre o seio da relação conjugal. Para os objetivos delineados, foram utilizados 3 instrumentos de avaliação: Escala de Dificuldades de Regulação Emocional (DERS), Escala de Avaliação da Satisfação em Áreas da Vida Conjugal (EASAVIC) e Escala de Justiça Íntima (IJS). Nesta investigação participaram 50 casais, tendo sido divididos em dois grupos: Grupo 1 em que o ex-combatente sofre de PPST e o Grupo 2 em que o ex-combatente não possui qualquer perturbação psicológica. Os resultados obtidos corroboram as investigações já realizadas nesta área, em que se verifica haver um impacto negativo da sintomatologia da PPST dos ex-combatentes perante o seu funcionamento conjugal, apresentando valores menos satisfatórios em relação às variáveis em estudo quando comparados com o grupo de controlo. This study focuses on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and in its impact on the emotional regulation, violence and marital satisfaction in couples with a history of exposure to Portuguese Colonial War (1961-1975). Given the marital difficulties encountered by these couples and the scarce investment in this area in Portugal, the intention of this study was to contribute to the production of knowledge about this subject, as well as stimulate interest in future investigations. Through a quantitative, correlational and comparative study, we studied the impact of PPST on marital relationship. For the outlined goals, we used three assessment scales: Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS), Scale of Satisfaction in Marriage areas (EASAVIC) and Intimate Justice Scale (IJS). Fifty couples participated in this study, divided into two groups: Group 1, in which the veteran suffered from PTSD and Group 2, in which the veteran had no psychological disturbance. The results corroborate previous research in this area, where there be a negative impact of symptoms of PTSD of former military in his marital functioning, presenting less satisfactory values regarding the variables under study compared to the control group.
