Abstract(s)
A Doença de Alzheimer é a forma mais comum de Demência, constituindo cerca de 50% a 70% de todos os casos. É um tipo de demência que provoca uma deterioração global, progressiva e irreversível de diversas funções cognitivas (memória, atenção, concentração, linguagem, pensamento, entre outras). Esta deterioração tem como consequências alterações no comportamento, na personalidade e na capacidade funcional da pessoa, dificultando a realização das suas atividades de vida diária.
A tarefa cuidar de alguém acarreta, na sua maioria, uma sobrecarga no cuidador, que geralmente é definida como impacto negativo nas suas vidas.
Neste trabalho de investigação, pretende-se estudar a sobrecarga no cuidador informal do doente com doença de Alzheimer, tendo sido desenvolvida uma Revisão Bibliográfica, com análise de alguns estudos sobre a temática.
Segundo os resultados do estudo, verificou-se que a sobrecarga no cuidador informal do doente de Alzheimer é mais sentida a nível físico e emocional. A nível físico devido à assistência 24 horas na vida quotidiana do doente, através do banho, alimentação, administração medicamentosa, tarefas domésticas. A nível emocional pelo facto de assistirem à deterioração psicológica do doente, sentirem a incapacidade de poderem melhorar a situação e também devido à existência de episódios de insultos e agressões.
A nível psicológico as manifestações da sobrecarga no cuidador informal do doente com doença de Alzheimer, são: distúrbios do sono, ansiedade, depressão e tensão, bem como efeitos físicos adversos, tais como o esgotamento e o cansaço. Outras manifestações da sobrecarga encontradas ao longo da investigação foram a redução do tempo de lazer, restrições na vida social, deterioração das relações familiares, desorganização das rotinas domésticas e problemas financeiros, por vezes acentuados devido ao facto de o cuidador ter de abandonar o emprego de modo a poder dedicar mais tempo ao doente.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, accounting for about 50% to 70% of all cases. It is a type of dementia that causes a global, progressive and irreversible deterioration of several cognitive functions (memory, attention, concentration, language, thought, among others). This deterioration results in changes in behavior, personality and functional capacity of the person, making it difficult to perform their daily activities. The task of caring for someone causes, for the most part, an overload on the caregiver, which is usually defined as a negative impact on their lives. In this research, we intend to study the overload in the informal caregiver of the patient with Alzheimer's disease, having developed a Bibliographic Review, with analysis of some studies on the subject. According to the results of the study, it was found that the overload in the informal caregiver of the Alzheimer's patient is more felt physically and emotionally. At the physical level due to the 24-hour assistance in the daily life of the patient, through the bath, feeding, medication administration, household chores. On an emotional level because they see the psychological deterioration of the patient, they feel the incapacity to be able to improve the situation and due to the existence of episodes of insults and aggressions. At the psychological level, the manifestations of overload in the informal caregiver of the patient with Alzheimer's disease are: sleep disorders, anxiety, depression and tension, as well as adverse physical effects, such as exhaustion and tiredness. Other manifestations of the overload encountered during the investigation were reduced leisure time, restrictions on social life, deterioration of family relationships, disorganization of domestic routines and financial problems, sometimes accentuated by the fact that the caregiver had to abandon the employment of to spend more time on the patient.
