Abstract(s)
Introduction: Corona-Virus-Disease-19 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by the novel coronavirus (nCov-2019), which manifests itself predominantly by symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty breathing. The projection of droplets of blood, saliva or nasopharyngeal secretions directly on mucous membranes and / or skin constitute a possible route of transmission of disease-causing substances to other individuals. As dentistry is one of the most risky occupations, infection control has determined the need to modify therapeutic protocols in clinical practice due to the sudden spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-2 (SARSCoV-2). Objective: The objective of this study was to know the care to be taken in dentistry in the context of the pandemic COVID-19. Materials and methods: Research in PubMed, PMC and MedLine online database until October 2020 and reference lists of relevant publications. The following criteria were considered eligible: full text available; clinical trials, controlled and randomized clinical trials; human studies; systematic reviews; meta-analyzes; comparative studies; original studies: prospective and retrospective; case reports and relevant texts that had at least one occurrence relating COVID-19 and the keywords that make up this study. Results: 148 articles were found in a free search. In a more careful analysis, 61 articles were subtracted. Conclusion: The dental team must reconsider the level of infectious risk of each procedure and understand the potential implications of transmission by SARS-CoV-2, keeping up to date with new information about the disease in order to reduce the risk of contagion for the health and safety of your community.
