A qualidade de vida é um bem primário a todo o ser humano!
A nevralgia do trigémio é uma algia crónica que, geralmente, é unilateral e afecta mais o sexo feminino. No entanto, existem vários possíveis tratamentos para o alívio da dor, sendo o de 1ª linha farmacológico (CBZ).
Como a ciência é um mundo de constante inovação, a toxina botulínica, uma potente neurotoxina produzida pela bactéria Clostridium botulinum, tem ganho uma atenção especial pela área da medicina dentária.
A BTX-A tem vindo a ser usada através de injecções intradérmicas ou subcutâneas, variando a sua localização consoante a área afectada. Quando usada a BTX-A na NT, provoca um efeito de analgesia. Contudo, existem efeitos adversos, embora de leves a moderados e transitórios.
Embora a falta de estudos relativos à eficácia da terapêutica, conclui-se que os efeitos adversos causados pela BTX-A não se sobrepõem aos benefícios do seu uso.

However, there are adverse effects, from mild to moderate and even temporary. Although the lack of studies on the efficacy of the therapy, it’s concluded that the adverse effects caused by TXB-A don’t overlap the benefits of it’s use.
