Abstract(s)

Este estudo, efectuado através de um questionário junto de 313 crianças, dos 6 aos 11 de anos de idade, procura avaliar as atitudes materialistas das crianças e os valores procurados no vestuário. O questionário resultou da aplicação e adaptação de duas escalas: (1) para o materialismo adaptou-se a escala de Richins (1987); (2) para os valores procurados no vestuário adaptou-se a escala de Prakash (1984). Os resultados evidenciam as atitudes materialistas das crianças. As crianças reconhecem a valor funcional e simbólico das suas roupas. Todavia, as crianças reconhecem o estilo (96,8%) e a moda (61,3%) como factores importantes no seu vestuário. Por outro lado, constatou-se existe uma relação positiva e significativa entre as atitudes materialistas e os valores procurados no vestuário. This study, developed through a questionnaire answered by 313 children, between the ages of 6 and 11, it aims to evaluate the materialistic attitudes of the children and the values looked in clothes. The questionnaire resulted of the application and adaptation of two scales: (1) Materialism Measure (Richins,1987); (2) Clothes Values (Prakash, 1984). The findings indicate and evidence the materialistic attitudes of the children. The children value the functional and symbolic dimensions of clothes. However, the children recognize the style (96,8%) and the fashion (61,3%) as important factors in clothes.
