Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo expor o ciclo de vida dos materiais de construção, mais especificamente da madeira e do betão relacionados com a estrutura de edifícios. Os dois materiais são diferentes em vários aspetos, no entanto são escolhidos e utilizados para exercerem a mesma função estrutural. Umas das questões abordadas foi a de saber qual seria o melhor material a usar ou o melhor compromisso, num mundo em que os recursos não são de todo inesgotáveis. Os dois materiais estudados são comparados através da analise dos seus ciclos de vida e dos impactos que cada um deles provoca, sendo eles positivos ou negativos. Para uma melhor compreensão das características dos dois materiais, foi realizado um estudo de caso onde se recorreu às EPD’s (Environmental Product Declaration) para obtenção de resultados.
This study aims to report the life cycle analysis of concrete and wood constructions in the context of building structures. These two materials are diferent in many ways, but are chosen and used in structures for the same function. The question is to know what is the best material who need to be used or the best compromise between alternative materials, in a world where resources are not inexhaustible at all. These materials are compared by the analysis of their life cycle and impacts they can cause, whether they are positive or negative. Hence, in this study, the life cycle analysis to each of them is traced. EDP - Environmental Product Declaration will be used to address a small case study. Two identical buildings are compared in their design, taking into account the materials used, in order to report a better conclusion through the obtained results.
