Abstract(s)
Introduction: Worldwide women's knowledge of female pelvic floor (PF) is scarce. Objective: Identify women's knowledge about the anatomy, function / dysfunction of the PF, gynecological urology rehabilitation (pre and postnatal physiotherapy). Methodology: An online questionnaire was carried out for women aged ≥18 years, with 29 questions: sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge about anatomy, PF functions / dysfunctions and gynecological urology rehabilitation (pre and postnatal physiotherapy). Results compared to three different groups ("Health professionals", "Health students", "Other"). Analysis of data using thematic content analysis and IBM © SPSS © Statistics Vs. 25.0 (α = 0.05). Results: 322 women answered. About 95.3% reported that PF is composed of muscles, but only 52.5% correctly locate PF and 57.1% answered incorrectly or do not know how many openings / holes exist in female PF. Most of the participants (84.9%) reported only one function and 87.3% identified a higher percentage of urinary incontinence as the main consequence of PF dysfunction. Conclusion: There is an urgent need for education in the area of women's health on female's PF.
