Abstract(s)
Introduction: Figure skating is a sport that combines strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, agility, artistic skills and even art. Objective: to analyze the biological, lesion and training profile of four-wheeled figure skating athletes. Methodology: the sample consisted of 14 female athletes aged 12 years old, belonging to the level of Initiates in the Futebol Clube de Aliviada of Marco de Canaveses. To characterize the biological, injury and training profile, an interview was conducted based on a script questionnaire. And, to quantify the flexibility of the posterior chain of the athletes was used Wells bank. Results: despite the same age, the skaters presented variability in anthropometric data (35.00 to 52.50 kg, 1.46 to 1.63 m and 15.82 to 24.6 kg / m 2), flexibility (20.67 cm a 38.33cm), and years of practice (1 to 8 years). Most athletes practice free discipline (85.7%). The occurrence of injury in the previous sports season was 35.7%, and its etiology was predominantly traumatic (80%), with the fall (40%) being the most commonly reported cause. And, the most affected anatomic region was the knee (14.3%). 40% of the athletes immediately applied to the doctor, 20% to the physiotherapist, 20% to the two professionals, and 20% to the doctor and the osteopath. Of the 5 athletes who had an injury, 3 (60%) underwent physiotherapy treatment. Conclusion: The characteristics of the present sample do not correlate with practice time, flexibility, or number of lesions, nor are they considered as risk factors in the appearance of lesions.
