Abstract(s)
The growing digitalization of financial transactions and technological advancements in the banking sector have profoundly changed the way people make payments. The proliferation of online payment platforms has brought numerous advantages in terms of convenience and efficiency, allowing consumers to conduct transactions without leaving their homes, at any time, and from anywhere in the world. However, this landscape of technological innovation has also brought significant challenges, with a notable increase in cyber financial crimes, including fraud, identity theft, and online swindle, targeting users of these platforms. This quantitative and qualitative study aims to explore and analyze the major cyber financial crimes committed through online payment platforms based on literature reviews and available statistics. It considers the presence of sociodemographic and contextual variables that may increase the likelihood of cyber victimization. To achieve this, a questionnaire survey and subsequent semi-structured interviews will be conducted with individuals who have demonstrated sufficient knowledge of the phenomenon, either through their own experiences or those of others. This approach will allow for an in-depth discussion of results.
