Abstract(s)
Objetivo: Verificar, através da realização de uma revisão narrativa, se as características do leite materno e das fórmulas lácteas infantis apresentam uma relação positiva com a cárie precoce da infância.
Metodologia: Pesquisa bibliográfica realizada no período compreendido entre Dezembro de 2018 e Junho de 2019, nas bases de dados eletrónicas PubMed e Scielo. Foram utilizados vários termos de pesquisa, os quais foram articulados através do marcador booleano AND. Adicionalmente foram estipulados critérios de inclusão e exclusão para a seleção dos artigos. Foram considerados 37 artigos para a realização deste trabalho.
Tópico Abordado: A amamentação até aos 6 meses de idade parece desempenhar um efeito protetor na cárie precoce da infância. Enquanto que o hidrato de carbono maioritariamente presente no leite materno é a lactose, nas fórmulas lácteas infantis é a sacarose, com maior potencial cariogénico. Salienta-se a importância da consulta de medicina dentária pré-natal para que as progenitoras possam adotar medidas preventivas para a cárie desde o nascimento do seu bebé.
