Abstract(s)
The selection of the appropriate type of dental implant is essential in dental practice, and the influence of anatomical factors on this choice has been a growing point of interest. This study focuses on the evaluation of anatomical factors that impact the choice between wide, regular, or narrow implants. The existing literature highlights the importance of careful analysis of the width and height of the alveolar bone, as well as the local bone quality. Wide implants are often preferred in areas with favorable bone availability, providing greater initial support and distribution of masticatory load. On the other hand, narrow implants may be indicated in sites with anatomical limitations or narrow alveolar bone. Radiographic and tomographic examinations play a crucial role in the preliminary assessment of local anatomy to determine the most appropriate type of implant. In addition, surgical and prosthetic considerations are fundamental to ensure the stability and long-term success of the treatment. This study aims to compile and critically analyze the available literature, examine the clinical application of these findings, and offer practical guidance for dental professionals in the careful selection between wide, regular, or narrow implants, taking into account the specific anatomical factors of each patient, as well as the experience gained by professionals throughout their practice in implantology.
