Este projeto de graduação apresenta uma análise sobre como é que a Inteligência Artificial (IA) tem vindo a transformar o jornalismo internacional, focando-se num caso de estudo real do jornal The New York Times. Esta investigação analisa a forma de como é que a IA é usada no trabalho jornalístico, quais as ferramentas utilizadas e as influências éticas, profissionais e sociais que esta nova tecnologia pode trazer. O projeto é composto por uma contextualização histórica da IA e a discussão de riscos associados. Seguidamente, são analisadas as oportunidades que a inteligência artificial trouxe, tais como: a automação de tarefas e a personalização de conteúdos. Numa parte final, é analisado um estudo de caso do New York Times que descreve como é que a IA é usada para ajudar os jornalistas no seu trabalho diário.
This graduation project analyses how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been transforming international journalism, focusing on a real case study from The New York Times. This research analyses how AI is used in journalistic work, which tools are used and the ethical, professional and social influences that this new technology can bring. The project consists of a historical contextualisation of AI and a discussion of the associated risks. It then looks at the opportunities that artificial intelligence has brought, such as the automation of tasks and the personalisation of content. Finally, a case study from the New York Times is analysed, describing how AI is used to help journalists in their daily work.
