Abstract(s)
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of manual therapy techniques in the treatment of tension-type headache on adults. Method: Review of randomized controlled trials (RCT), with resource of PubMed and PEDro databases, using the keywords headache, tension-type headache, miofascial pain, physiotherapy e manual therapy. Results: All manual therapy techniques apllied in the 7 selected RCT studies showed effectiveness in the relief of tension-type headache, when apllied isolated or combinated. Conclusion: Manual therapy techniques referred in this study showed effectiveness in the treatment of tension-type headache decreasing symptoms frequency and intensity, and parameters such as quality of life and pain perception, mainly mobilization techniques for cervical joints. As well as myofascial pain and active trigger points treatment have an importante role on therapeutic plan in individuals with tension-type headache.
