| dc.description.abstract | O envelhecimento em Portugal tem vindo a aumentar pela base da pirâmide etária, com a diminuição da população jovem e o crescimento da população idosa. Porem, este acentuado aumento conduz a um maior custo nos serviços de saúde, assim como, a um maior pensamento sobre a morte. Considerando que o envelhecimento faz parte do ciclo de vida humano, o medo que apresentam da morte não pode constituir uma impossibilidade para impedir viver de forma saudável, autónoma e independente, durante o ciclo de vida. Este trabalho, cujo tema é, “Representação Mental do Idoso acerca da Morte e do Envelhecimento”, tem como objectivos, conhecer a representação mental da morte na perspectiva do idoso; conhecer a percepção do idoso acerca do seu processo do envelhecimento; identificar os processos de envelhecimento individual nos diferentes domínios; e conhecer as vivências do idoso acerca da morte. Neste âmbito, optamos por um estudo de carácter qualitativo, e realizamos a colheita de dados através de uma entrevista aberta numa amostra de 6 Idosos, sendo 3 residentes num lar e 3 a frequentar um centro de dia, ambos situados no Porto. Os resultados obtidos permitiram dar resposta aos objectivos do estudo. Quanto ao envelhecimento os Idosos do nosso estudo, percepcionam o seu envelhecimento com implicações a nível físico, familiar mas sobretudo a nível psicológico. Os sentimentos sobre a morte vão desde a negação, desejo de morrer ate à aceitação. Os idosos da amostra maioritariamente ocupam os seus tempos a passear, ir à missa e actividades de vida diária mas há outros que estão inactivos. Concluímos ainda que a maioria dos entrevistados não têm objectivos e os que têm afirmam que é “ter saúde”. Ageing in Portugal has increased to the base of the pyramid, with the decline of young population and the elderly population. However, this leads bring an increase in higher cost health services, as well as the largest one thought of death. Considering that ageing is part of the human life cycle, the fear of death can not have be an inability to prevent live healthy, autonomous and independent during the life cycle. This work, whose theme is "Mental Representation of Older Persons on Death and Ageing", aims to know the mental representation of death from the perspective of the elderly; know the perception of the elderly about their ageing process, identify the processes of individual ageing in the various fields, and learn about the experiences of elderly people about death. In this context, we chose a qualitative study of character, conduct and data collection through an open interview a sample of six elderly, residing in a home with 3 and 3 to attend a day center, both located in Oporto city. The results obtained meet the objectives of the study. The ageing of the Elderly study, perceive its implications for ageing and physical family but especially psychologically. The feelings about the death ranging from denial, desire to die before the acceptance. The elderly sample mostly occupy their time hanging out, going to Mass and activities of daily living but others are inactive. Also concluded that most respondents doesn’t have objectives and those who have say it is "be healthy". | por |
