O conceito de Representação Social nos últimos anos, têm surgido com grande frequência em diversas áreas. A teoria das Representações Sociais é um instrumento de compreensão e transformação da vida social e, por consequência dos seus significados. O objetivo do estudo é perceber quais as evocações que levam a atual Representação Social do Fisioterapeuta, identificar: a relação das variáveis sociológicas com a representação que os utentes atribuem aos Fisioterapeutas e á sua autonomia, o conhecimento das áreas e locais de intervenção, a palavra que mais se relaciona com o conceito Fisioterapia e perceber como consideram o desempenho dos Fisioterapeutas na Clínica Pedagógica de Fisioterapia da UFP. Verificou-se a existência de diferença estatisticamente significativa entre a variável sociológica “Idade” e o conceito que mais se relaciona com os Fisioterapeutas. As principiais evocações que caracterizam os elementos para esta amostra, no que diz respeito à sua Representação Social, são o profissionalismo e a competência.
The concept of Social Representation, in the last few years, frequently appears in several areas. The theory of Social Representations is an instrument for understanding and transforming the social life, and so for its meanings. This study boards at theoretical level the notion of Social Representation, describing its origin, structure and dimension. The objective of the study is to realize which the evocations that get a beating to current Social Representation of a Physiotherapist, to identify: the relation of the sociological variables with the representation that the users attribute to the Physiotherapists and á his autonomy, the knowledge of the areas and places of intervention, the word that more connects with the concept Physiotherapy and to realize how finds the performance of the Physiotherapists in the Pedagogic Clinic of Physiotherapy of the UFP. The existence of statistically significant difference happened between the variable sociological "Age" and the concept what more one connects with the Physiotherapists. You begin them evocations that characterize the elements for this sample, what concerns his Social Representation, they are the professionalism and the competence.
