Abstract(s)
Considering the continuous advance of crime in expanding cities, this dissertation discusses the relationship that is perceived today between insecurity and the feeling of victimization among the investigated community. For this purpose, it is necessary to discuss the points of interference related to this feeling, in other words, what motives and attributions of the society or group have to be more afraid, or less afraid, or to feel more or less safe in their community. The work assumes the investigative role to the point of discovering these people, who will be the target of the survey, at which time the feeling of insecurity arises. Whether it is possible that crime is one of the source factors for fear, if fear stems from factors of external influence (media or stories told by close people who have experienced some kind of violence) or if fear stems from both factors. This investigation requires an approximation between what is already known about the feeling of (un) security through scientific literature, without, however, losing the information derived from the investigation itself or the facts that follow from it. To have access maximum information as possible, an exploratory investigation was chosen, where 37 individuals answered the diagnostic questionnaire of this study. Certainly, this work is extremely relevant to know more about the consequences that fear has on society. The media can be an important influencing factor not only for fear, but also for crime to rise significantly and for people to make unwelcome changes in their way of life. And all of this impacts the reality of an entire society.
