Complicações cirúrgicas da germectomia dos terceiros molares: revisão sistemática

dc.description.abstractO terceiro molar incluso pode ser extraído durante a sua fase de gérmen através do procedimento cirúrgico de germectomia, ou após o desenvolvimento do dente estar completo através da extração do terceiro molar. O objetivo desta revisão sistemática da literatura é contribuir com a evidência científica atual sobre as complicações peri e pós-operatórias da técnica cirúrgica de germectomia dos terceiros molares, e ajudar o médico dentista na decisão crítica entre a remoção do gérmen dentário numa idade precoce ou a exodontia dos terceiros molares numa idade mais avançada, ou seja, quando o dente está completamente desenvolvido. Foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica nas bases de dados eletrónicas PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane, Mendeley, Scielo, Europe PMC, MDPI e Science Direct. A seleção dos artigos cumpriu os critérios de inclusão e exclusão previamente selecionados. A triagem dos artigos seguiu o método PRISMA. A avaliação da qualidade metodológica dos 9 artigos selecionados foi realizada através da ferramenta do Joanna Briggs Institute para Estudos de Coorte e Ensaios Controlados Randomizados. Os resultados dos estudos analisados demonstraram que a germectomia não é isenta de complicações pós-operatórias, mas, em relação à exodontia dos terceiros molares numa idade mais avançada, as complicações encontradas são quantitativamente menores. Em conclusão, as complicações associadas à técnica cirúrgica de germectomia são principalmente dor, inflamação, trismo e infeções secundárias.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe included third molar can be extracted during its germ phase through the surgical procedure of germectomy, or after the development of the tooth is complete through the extraction of the third molar. The objective of this systematic review of the literature is to contribute to the current scientific evidence on the peri- and postoperative complications of the surgical technique of third molar germectomy, and to assist the dentist in the critical decision between the removal of the dental germ at an early age or the exodontia of the third molars at an older age, that is, when the tooth is fully developed. A literature search was performed in the electronic databases PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane, Mendeley, Scielo, Europe PMC, MDPI, and Science Direct. The selection of articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria previously selected. The screening of articles followed the PRISMA method. The evaluation of the methodological quality of the 9 selected articles was performed through the tool of the Joanna Briggs Institute for Cohort Studies and Randomized Controlled Trials. The results of the studies analyzed showed that germectomy is not free of postoperative complications, but in relation to third molar exodontia at a more advanced age, the complications found are quantitatively lower. In conclusion, the complications associated with the surgical technique of germectomy are mainly pain, inflammation, trismus, and secondary infections.pt_PT
