Objetivo: investigar o impacto da incontinência urinária (IU) no estado de saúde e qualidade de vida das mulheres idosas seguidas na Clínica Pedagógica de Fisioterapia da Escola Superior de Saúde Fernando Pessoa (CPF-ESSFP). Metodologia: Com base no objetivo, foi conduzido um estudo observacional transversal, considerando o total de 90 pacientes da CPF-ESSFP. A coleta dos dados ocorreu entre setembro e dezembro de 2024 recorrendo a dois instrumentos: o Questionário Sociodemográfico-Ginecológico- Clínico e o "King’s Health Questionnaire" (KHQ). Os questionários foram entregues às participantes em envelope fechado, contendo questões relacionadas com o perfil sociodemográfico e detalhes da condição em estudo. Resultados: Numa recolha obtida em 90 pacientes, o domínio sintomatologia urinária (44.45±69.44) apresentaram maior impacto na qualidade de vida, o emoções e relações sociais apresentou menor impacto (16.67±34.37).Conclusão: A incontinência urinária afeta significativamente a sintomatologia urinária. No entanto, não compromete de forma relevante as emoções e relações sociais.
Objective: To investigate the impact of urinary incontinence (UI) on the health status and quality of life of elderly women followed at the Physiotherapy Teaching Clinic of the Fernando Pessoa School of Health (CPF-ESSFP). Methodology: Based on the objective, a cross-sectional observational study was conducted with a total of 90 patients from CPF-ESSFP. Data collection took place between September and December 2024 using two instruments: the Sociodemographic-Gynecological-Clinical Questionnaire and the King’s Health Questionnaire (KHQ). The questionnaires were delivered to participants in sealed envelopes, containing questions related to sociodemographic profile and details of the condition under study. Results: From data collected from 90 patients, the domain urinary symptoms (44.45±69.44) showed the greatest impact on quality of life, while emotions a social relationships showed the least impact (16.67±34.37). Conclusion: Urinary incontinence significantly affects general health perception and symptom severity. However, it does not substantially compromise emotions and social relationships.
