Abstract(s)
Aim: to analyse the prevalence of injuries during the 2023/2024 sporting season and whether their history is related to their physical performance in terms of agility, power and speed in federated football players. Methodology: the sample consisted of 40 male football players competing in the Viana do Castelo Football Association, União Desportiva de Lanheses (UDL) and Âncora Praia Futebol Clube (APFC), with an average age of 22.7 years. All the players completed an individual questionnaire and performed three field tests, the T-Test, Vertical Jump and 30m Sprint, to analyse their performance and the existence of injuries, and its relation. Results: 15 (36.6%) athletes had injury in this season and, overall, the most prevalent anatomical site of injury was the thigh (33.3%), with the most injured anatomical structure being the muscle (51.9%) and that jumping/receiving the ground was the technical gesture that caused the most injuries (44.4%). Only UDL had negative correlation between the number of injuries and sprint. Conclusion: it is suggested that there is a relation between the presence of injury history and the performance of the athlete.
