Pregnancy leads to hormonal and physiological changes that have aggravating effects on different diseases of the oral cavity. In addition, other aggravating factors come into play, preventing a return to a physiologically stable situation, such as acidification of the oral environment, vomiting and alterations in eating behavior. Studies in this area have shown that some preconceived ideas have proven to be false, such as the famous expression one baby, one tooth. The repercussions of oral diseases on the health of the mother and the fetus are also highlighted. For the control of these diseases, prophylaxis plays an essential role and treatment is paramount. The pregnant woman must be treated according to a certain protocol with respect to her unborn baby. This narrative review will describe the actual knowledge regarding the relation between pregnancy and oral cavity diseases. Only articles written in French or English and in open access were included.pt_PT
