Abstract(s)
Objetivo. Estabelecer a importância do diagnóstico para o tratamento ortodôntico em pacientes adultos com caninos inclusos. Metodologia. Foi efetuada uma pesquisa bibliográfica, para o qual foram considerados no desenvolvimento recursos impressos, e na discussão, artigos publicados no período 2010-2018 em formato digital, aplicando critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Descrição. Na prática ortodôntica, é necessário conhecer e dominar os diferentes métodos para o diagnóstico clínico e de imagem do canino incluso, pois depende, tanto da escolha da alternativa terapêutica mais conveniente, como do prognóstico do paciente em termos de função e estética. Conclusão. Quando se trata de caninos inclusos num paciente adulto, é essencial realizar uma minuciosa exploração clínica completa com uma avaliação baseada nos recursos de imagens que estão à disposição do ortodontista, para a resolução ideal da anomalia eruptiva e dos processos patológicos associados.

In orthodontic practice, it is necessary to know and master the different methods for the clinical and imaging diagnosis of the included canine, since it depends both on the choice of the most convenient therapeutic alternative and on the patient's prognosis in terms of function and aesthetics. When it comes to included canines in the adult patient, it is essential to perform a thorough clinical exploration with an evaluation based on the resources of imaging that are available to the orthodontist, for the ideal resolution of the eruptive anomaly and associated pathological processes.
