Abstract(s)
Pubmed,b-on e Medline.
Dental agenesis is a dental developmental change that leads to the absence of one or more teeth. Among patients seeking orthodontic treatment with agenesis, a major complaint is the lack of upper lateral incisors. Its clinical solution is diverse and there is still no consensus among professionals regarding the best alternative between the two most common options: the orthodontic space closure; or orthodontic space opening and space maintenance. The objective of this work is to a bibliographical review to present treatment modalities for cases of missing maxillary lateral incisors, based on scientific evidence. A literature search was done between January and April 2018, performed in Pubmed, b-on, e Medline From this bibliographical review it can be concluded that for the treatment planning, the professional should make several considerations, evaluating advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications and conditions of each treatment option.
