Abstract(s)
This is a descriptive, correlational study that seeks to characterize the levels of well-being and stress in Brazilian psychologists, from the analysis of relations, with variables (practice area, professional situation, years of experience) and differences, with sociodemographic variables (age, gender, marital status, education). The sample consisted of 104 participants, 99 females and 5 males, aged between 20 and 79 years (M = 43.61; SD= 13.52). The tools for the assessment were the Continuum Mental Health Scale (MHC-SF), the Stress Scale at Work (Job Stress Scale) and the Sociodemographic Questionnaire. The results suggest positive levels for Psychological Well-being (M=29.40; SD=4.03); Social Well-being (M=19.83; SD=4.41) and Emotional Well-Being (M=14.24; SD=2.35); and elevated levels of control (M=21.45; SD=3.12) along with social support (M = 20.21; SD=3.12) followed by a low psychological demand (M=15.38; SD=2.08), these results are showing that they are indicative of low stress. The only professional variable that wasn’t listed in any subcategory was years of experience both areas of activity and professional situation stood out in the relation with social well-being and social support. Differences were found in at least some dimensions of well-being and stress, however, only the educational variable showed difference in all dimensions.
