Abstract(s)
Shorter orthodontic treatments have been sought by patients with the aim of reducing their discomfort and impact day by day. The fact that tooth movement is based on the biological response of the periodontal liga-ment, which reacts with inflammatory processes, suggests that increasing this response accelerates tooth movement. New surgical techniques have come to light with the intention of reducing orthodontic treatment time. Micro-osteoperforation is one of them and stands out for being minimally invasive, easy to reproduce and causing minimum discomfort to the patient. This work aims to describe the effect of micro-osteoperforation, their advantages over existing methods and their possible applications in orthodontic treatment.
