Abstract(s)
Introduction: physical activity during pregnancy can have a beneficial impact on the health of the mother and the newborn. Aim: to evaluate the influence of physical exercise during pregnancy on the characteristics of the newborn and on the health of pregnant women. Methodology: a computerized study was carried out in the PubMed and PEDro databases in order to find randomized controlled articles published in the last decade and evaluated methodologically according to the PEDro scale. Results: six articles were selected, with an average methodological quality of 6.5 / 10. The total number of participants was 1562 pregnant women, of whom 387 didn't finish their studies. The pregnant women had ages between 18 and 43 years, and performed different types of physical exercise. Several biological parameters were analyzed in newborns and pregnant women. Conclusion: the practice of physical exercise during pregnancy isn’t determinant in the biometric characteristics and the health of the newborn. In the pregnant woman, the practice of physical exercise reduces the values of heart rate and proteinuria, as well as contributes to a lower weight gain during pregnancy.
