- Musicotherapy serving dental consultation: its effect on the management of anxietyPublication . Taghavi, Alex Mohsen; Bulhosa, José FriasIntroduction: Music therapy, a technique of listening to music, which uses its physiological, psychological and emotional effect on the person during the treatment of an illness or trauma, has proven its effectiveness. Various health fields currently use it. My objectives were to study, thanks to music therapy, how we can manage anxiety during dental consultation, and to evaluate the effects of music therapy in relation to anxiety. We tried to show that music therapy could be one of disponible tools for managing it. Materials and Methods: The research was obtained from several online libraries and some themed books. The main databases were PubMed, B-on, University libraries, using articles and information less than 25 years old. The research is accompanied by a transversal study on patients during a dental consultation. In patients it was use techniques of receptive (passive) music therapy. Results: Music therapy helps to distract the patient from harmful stimuli present during a dental consultation and relax the patient. It also causes the loss of the concept of time. The results of the investigation allowed to observe that music therapy has a positive effect on anxiety management. Conclusion: Music therapy is a discipline in full development and its use renders many services, as much in the hospital environment as in liberal in the service of the person. We can therefore conclude that music therapy in dental offices or clinics are perfectly justified.
