Considerando a sua etiologia, diagnostico e opções de tratamento, para além da realização de um estudo de prevalência numa comunidade da Universidade Fernando Pessoa. A razão deste trabalho prende-se com o facto de o dente canino ser de extrema importância quer na estética como na função que exerce na arcada dentária. Analisando a bibliografia percebe-se que este dente é o segundo mais afetado pela retenção, o seu diagnóstico é principalmente imagiológico e que o tratamento depende da sua localização e de uma avaliação multidisciplinar. The aim of this work was the study of the non eruptional canine tooth. Whereas the etiology, diagnosis and treatment options, besides conducting a prevalence study in the University Fernando Pessoa community. The reason of this work is the fact that the canine tooth is extremely important both in aesthetics as the role it plays in the dental arch. Looking at the literature one realizes that this tooth is the second most affected by retention, its diagnosis is mainly imaging and the treatment depends on your location and of a multidisciplinary evaluation.
