Nos últimos anos, temos observado um aumento na preocupação da estética dentária dos pacientes, especialmente nos dentes anteriores. Uma das principais causas que levam à procura de um método para corrigir a estética do seu sorriso é o escurecimento destes dentes.
Esta situação levou a que fossem desenvolvidas várias técnicas na tentativa de melhorar a cor dos dentes, nomeadamente após o seu escurecimento, de modo a satisfazer as necessidades dos pacientes.
Dentro dos vários métodos conhecidos para corrigir este problema, os mais comuns são: o branqueamento, as coroas e as facetas.
Esta revisão narrativa foi realizada para esclarecer quais os métodos mais indicados que existem para corrigir a estética dentária nos casos em que esta é comprometida pelo seu escurecimento e também para indicar quais as suas vantagens e desvantagens. Para a sua realização foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas, entre 2000 e 2021, utilizando como palavras-chave “restoration”, “teeth”, “discolored” e “anterior”.
In recent years, we have seen an increase in the concern of patients’ dental esthetics, especially in relation to anterior teeth. One of the main reasons that lead them to look for a method to correct aesthetics of their smile is the darkening of the teeth. This situation has led to the development of several methods in an attempt to improve the color of teeth after their darkening, in order to satisfy the needs of patients. Among the many known methods to correct this problem, the most common are: bleaching, crowns and veneers. This narrative review was carried out to clarify which methods are the most suitable for correcting dental esthetics in cases where it is compromised by tooth darkening and also to indicate its advantages and disadvantages. For its realization, bibliographic research was carried out, between 2000 and 2021, using keywords “restoration”, “teeth”, “discolored” and “anterior”.
