Abstract(s)
Purpose: To collect evidence on maxillary sinus floor elevation with atraumatic technique. Documentary study with bibliographic review design, for which printed and/or digitized articles were considered using as exclusion criteria: articles based on maxillary sinus floor elevation with techniques considered as traumatic, articles published in non-indexed journals and/or before 2010 and including academic studies. Results: The new techniques and atraumatic approaches aimed at maxillary sinus floor elevation are effective, reducing the trauma and complications associated with conventional procedures; however, such efficacy may be subject to the knowledge, preferences and experience of the treating clinician. Conclusions: the most effective techniques from the perspective of minimally invasive intervention would be a priori those identified as inflatable nasal balloon and hydrodynamic, making clear, evidencing the need for new studies aimed at comparing all current and new methods, preferably through long-term clinical studies.
