Antecedentes: O aparecimento da pandemia de COVID-19 provocou alterações na saúde mental na população. Os danos na saúde mental dos estudantes universitários surgem devido a todas as imposições que a pandemia acarretou juntamente com o facto de estes já serem um grupo mais vulnerável ao sofrimento emocional, uma vez que se encontram a experienciar mudanças na sua vida pessoal, social e académica. São variadíssimos os estudos que relatam que os estudantes universitários sofreram com o surgimento da pandemia de COVID-19. Objetivo: Mapear a evidência científica relacionada com a pandemia de COVID-19 e a saúde mental nos estudantes universitários, nomeadamente as suas repercussões. Métodos: Uma scoping review seguiu as orientações metodológicas do Joanna Briggs Institute para pesquisar e sintetizar estudos publicados entre 2019 e 2023. As bases de dados pesquisadas foram MEDLINE, CINAHL e LILACS. Um total de sete artigos eram elegíveis para serem selecionados., tendo emergido quatro categorias que correspondiam às dimensões da ansiedade, depressão, medo e stress. Ficou evidente que os estudantes universitários apresentam altos níveis de danos na sua saúde mental. Conclusões: Recomenda-se que as instituições de ensino superior atendam mais à saúde mental dos seus discentes e que se encontrem melhor preparadas, na eventualidade do surgimento de um novo surto pandémico, com a perspetiva de reduzir o impacto na saúde mental dos estudantes universitários.
Background: The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes in mental health in the population. The damage to the mental health of university students arises due to all the impositions that the pandemic has entailed, together with the fact that they are already a group more vulnerable to emotional distress, as they are experiencing changes in their personal, social and academic lives. There are many studies that report that university students have suffered from the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: To map the scientific evidence related to the COVID-19 pandemic and mental health in university students, namely its repercussions. Methods: A scoping review followed the Joanna Briggs Institute methodological guidelines to search and synthesize studies published between 2019 and 2023. The databases searched were MEDLINE, CINAHL and LILACS. A total of seven articles were eligible to be selected, and four categories emerged that corresponded to the dimensions of anxiety, depression, fear and stress. It was evident that university students present high levels of damage to their mental health. Conclusions: It is recommended that higher education institutions pay more attention to the mental health of their students and that they are better prepared in the event of a new pandemic outbreak, with a view to reducing the impact on the mental health of university students.

Hay muchos estudios que informan que los estudiantes universitarios han sufrido con la aparición de la pandemia de COVID-19. Objetivo: Mapear la evidencia científica relacionada con la pandemia COVID-19 y la salud mental en estudiantes universitarios, concretamente sus repercusiones. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión de alcance siguiendo las directrices metodológicas del Instituto Joanna Briggs para buscar y sintetizar los estudios publicados entre 2019 y 2023. Las bases de datos en las que se realizaron las búsquedas fueron MEDLINE, CINAHL y LILACS. Un total de siete artículos fueron elegibles para ser seleccionados, surgiendo cuatro categorías que corresponden a las dimensiones de ansiedad, depresión, miedo y estrés. Se evidenció que los estudiantes universitarios presentan altos niveles de daño a su salud mental.
