| dc.description.abstract | O cancro oral está entre os seis tumores malignos mais prevalentes, associado a índices de mortalidade e morbilidade elevados. Os pacientes oncológicos apresentam deterioração de funções básicas devendo-se principalmente ao tratamento exigido. É objetivo da presente dissertação analisar as limitações que se colocam na reabilitação oral de pacientes submetidos a tratamento para cancro oral. Discute-se ainda o acompanhamento médico-dentário nas diferentes fases da doença. O médico dentista é um elemento fundamental em oncologia oral. Possibilita o diagnóstico precoce, favorecendo o prognóstico. Apoia a prevenção e diminuição de complicações durante e após o tratamento e participa na reabilitação oral do paciente. As limitações morfológicas e funcionais impostas pelo tratamento exigem um planeamento minucioso da reabilitação oral, devido às modificações ocorridas em tecidos duros e moles da região crânio-cervico-facial. Ao oferecer uma reabilitação adequada, o médico dentista otimiza a qualidade de vida do paciente e auxilia a sua integração na sociedade. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Oral cancer is among the six most prevalent malignant tumours, associated with high mortality and morbidity rates. Cancer patients present deterioration of basic functions and the treatment required. The objective of this dissertation is to analyze the limitations that arise in the oral rehabilitation of patients undergoing treatment for oral cancer. Discusses the dentist monitoring in different phases of the disease. The dentist is a key element in oral oncology. Enables early diagnosis, favoring the prognosis. Supports the prevention and reduction of complications during and after treatment and participate in oral rehabilitation of the patient. The morphological and functional limitations imposed by handing require thorough planning of oral rehabilitation, due to the changes that have occurred in hard and soft tissues of the skull-cervico-facial region. | pt_PT |
