O sorriso gengival descreve uma condição estética considerada de certa forma frequente, definida como uma exposição gengival excessiva ao nível do maxilar superior. Quanto à etiologia, existem vários fatores que aliados a parâmetros de diagnóstico nos levam ao melhor plano de tratamento para cada paciente. Estes fatores etiológicos existem a todos os níveis orofaciais: esqueléticos, musculares e gengivais. O objetivo desta revisão narrativa é definir os fatores e parâmetros de diagnóstico para o sorriso gengival.
Gummy smile describes an aesthetic condition considered somewhat common, defined as excessive gingival exposure at the level of the upper jaw. As for the etiology, there are several factors that, combined with diagnostic parameters, lead us to the best treatment plan for each patient. These etiological factors exist at all orofacial levels: skeletal, muscular and gingival. The purpose of this narrative review is to define the diagnostic factors and parameters for gummy smile.
