Abstract(s)

Festivals, an age-old phenomena in traditional societies, are in all cultures the object of the most varied descriptions and anthropological interpretations. For some people, the festival is a manifestation of great importance in the accomplishment of the human needs of both individual and social well-being. The ideal festival is the one which characterized by the allowed excess, transgression and the social paradox of purification and renovation. For some others, the party must be the affirmation of an accomplishment appropriate to the new era, obeying the principles of the utilitarian rationalism, and to technical and bureaucratic planning. Tradition and modernity, festival and work are dicotomical relations, which complete each other in the creation of present day rituals and festivals. Les fêtes, des phénomènes de l´expérience milénaire des sociètes traditionnelles, sont en toutes les cultures objet des plus diversifiées descriptions et interprétations anthropologiques. Pour quelques uns, la fête idéale est caractérisée par l´excess permis, la transgression, le paroxysme social de purification et renouvellement. Pour des autres, la fête doi être une réalisation des temps modernes, obéir aux principes de la rationalité utilitaire, à la planification technique et bureaucratique. Tradition et modernité, fête et travail ce sont des relations dicotomiques qui se complètent dans la recréation des rituels et des fêtes de nos jours.
