Os Distúrbios Osteomusculares Relacionados ao Trabalho (DORT) são patologias que estão relacionadas às atividades laborais realizadas pelos médicos dentistas que podem desenvolvê-las durante a sua vida profissional. Elas não possuem causa única, havendo uma série de fatores que colaboram para o seu aparecimento, como os movimentos repetidos, a má postura e o stress.
O objetivo desse estudo foi compreender um pouco acerca deste problema, identificar algumas das patologias mais comuns sofrida por esta classe profissional, bem como, procurar alertar para a importância de exercícios laborais e pós laborais como método de prevenção.
Verificou-se que o controlo do stress e, a prática de exercícios de alongamentos e reforço muscular além de pausas entre consultas têm-se revelado importantes meios protetores no combate a estas doenças.
Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WRMD) are pathologies characteristic in profession classes like dentists. They usually develop during their professional life. WRMD have no single cause. There are several factors that contribute to their incidence like repeated movements, poor posture and stress. The aim of this study was to understand more about this problem, to identify some of the most common pathologies suffered by this professional class, as well as to alert to the importance of exercises made in labor ambient and outside labor ambient as a prevention method. It has been found that stress management, stretching exercises and muscle strengthening, as well as pauses between consultations, have proved to be important protective means in the fight against these diseases.
