| dc.description.abstract | O envelhecimento facial é um processo complexo, multifatorial que resulta em alterações progressivas. Objetivo: Pretende-se destacar a evidência científica disponível sobre a etiologia e progressão do envelhecimento facial. Método: Pesquisa bibliográfica realizada nas bases de dados electrónicas PubMed e B-on, utilizando as palavras-chave "anatomy"; "biology"; "facial aging"; "facial layers" combinadas entre si de diversas formas, utilizando os operadores booleanos “OR” e “AND”, resultando na seleção final de 85 artigos. Resultados: Como agentes causais mais importantes destacam-se a força da gravidade, maturação dos tecidos moles, remodelação óssea, atividade dos músculos faciais e exposição solar. Embora cada camada anatómica sofra um processo próprio de envelhecimento, verifica-se a interdependência das diversas estruturas. Conclusão: Compreender as alterações anatómicas subjacentes às mudanças da aparência do indivíduo ao longo da vida, pode contribuir para uma maior eficácia, por parte do Clínico, para restaurar/repor um equilíbrio facial harmonioso ou reduzir os efeitos do envelhecimento. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Facial aging is a complex, multifactorial process that results in progressive changes. Objective: To highlight the available scientific evidence on the etiology and progression of facial aging. Method: Literature search carried out in the electronic databases PubMed and B-on, using the keywords "anatomy"; "biology"; "facial aging"; "facial layers" combined with each other in various ways, using the boolean operators "OR" and "AND", resulting in the final selection of 85 articles. Results: The most important causal agents are the force of gravity, soft tissue maturation, bone remodeling, facial muscle activity and sun exposure. Although each anatomical layer undergoes its own ageing process, there is an interdependence of the various structures. Conclusion: Understanding the anatomical changes underlying changes in the individual's appearance throughout life can contribute to greater efficacy on the part of the Clinician to restore/restore a harmonious facial balance or reduce the effects of aging. | pt_PT |
