Aplicação clínica da Técnica Biological Oriented Preparation Technique (BOPT): revisão narrativa

Através de reabilitações protéticas fixas, a medicina dentária deve atender às necessidades dos pacientes garantindo resultados estéticos e funcionais ideais. A convencional linha de preparo horizontal, tem sido desafiada por novas filosofias que preconizam preparos verticais dinâmicos, como a BOPT “Biological Oriented Preparation Technique”. Nesta técnica, a linha de acabamentoe o volume protético são adaptados, de forma a criarem um novo perfil de emergência ao qual a gengiva se ajusta. Desta forma, evitam-se cirurgias pré-protéticas de reposicionamento das margens gengivais que têm muitas das vezes resultados pouco previsíveis. A eficácia da técnica comprova-se nos casos de retratamento de próteses fixas com insucesso estético (exposição da linha de acabamento ou discromia gengival), e nas situações de assimetria na posição do zenith gengival.
Este trabalho visa realizar uma revisão narrativa da informação científica publicada sobre o tema, capaz de suportar a evidência clínica da técnica BOPT. Para tal foi efectuada uma pesquisa na PubMed, Medline, SciElo,SciencDirect e Google Académico com as palavras chave descritas abaixo, sem limitação temporal, e com restrição de artigos em inglês, espanhol, português e italiano.
Through fixed prosthetic rehabilitations, dentistry must meet the needs of patients ensuring optimal aesthetic and functional results. The conventional horizontal preparation line has been challenged by new philosophies that advocate dynamic vertical preparations, such as the BOPT “Biological Oriented Preparation Technique”. In this technique, the finishing line and the prosthetic volume are adapted in order to create a new emergence profile to which the gingiva adapts. In this way, pre-prosthetic surgery for repositioning the gingival margins, which often have unpredictable results, is avoided. The effectiveness of the technique is proven in cases of retreatment of fixed prostheses with aesthetic failure (exposure of the finishing line or gingival dyschromia), and in situations of asymmetry in the position of the gingival zenith. This work aims to carry out a narrative review of the scientific information published on the subject, capable of supporting the clinical evidence of the BOPT technique. For this purpose, a search was carried out in PubMed, Medline, SciElo, ScienceDirect and Google Academic with the keywords described below, without temporal limitation, and with restriction of articles in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
