Abstract(s)
Síndrome de Kelly caracteriza-se pelo conjunto de sinais clínicos: perda do suporte ósseo na
região anterior maxilar, crescimento fibroso da tuberosidade maxilar, hiperplasia papilar dos
tecidos do palato duro e fibromucosa da região anterior, extrusão dos dentes anteriores
inferiores e perda óssea sob a base da prótese parcial inferior, aquando de uma maxila
desdentada oposta a dentes anteriores inferiores naturais. O objetivo deste trabalho é
apresentar a reabilitação com próteses removíveis de uma paciente com Síndrome de Kelly e
respetivo follow-up. Fundamentado pela revisão integrativa da literatura baseada numa
pesquisa bibliográfica. Caracteriza-se o caso clínico através da informação clínica recolhida
nas consultas de Prostodontia realizadas nas Clínicas Pedagógicas de Medicina Dentária da
Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Fernando Pessoa. Conclui-se a necessidade
de aprofundar a documentação respeitante à fisiopatologia da doença para um correto
diagnóstico permitindo opções terapêuticas dirigidas à situação clínica e obrigatoriamente a
manutenção protética do paciente com um acompanhamento periódico.
Kelly's Syndrome is characterized by: loss of bone support in the anterior maxilla, fibrous growth of the maxillary tuberosity, papillary hyperplasia of the hard palate and fibromucosa tissues of the anterior region, extrusion of lower anterior teeth and bone loss under the base of the lower partial prosthesis, arise when a toothless jaw is opposed to natural lower anterior teeth. The aim of this study consist in the presentation of a rehabilitation with removable dentures of a patient with Kelly's Syndrome and the follow-up. And statement of reasons is presente through an integrative review of literature. In order to describe de clinical case it was used clinical information collected during clinical practice at the Pedagogical Dental Clinics at Faculdade Ciências Saúde of Fernando Pessoa’s University. It was realized the need of getting deep in the documentation in regard of the pathophysiology of the syndrome in order to achieve a diagnosis that allows to have a therapeutic option directed to the clinical situation highlighting the need of prothetic maintainance of the patient with periodic folllow-up
