Abstract(s)
o sucesso do tratamento.
O objetivo do presente
Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) que utilizassem um método
A técnica ausência/presença,
One of the biggest challenges in pediatric dentistry consultation is the control of the child's behavior, which is influenced by several internal and external factors that could compromise the success of the treatment. In order to eliminate these factors, basic and advanced behavioral control techniques were developed. The technique of parental absence/presence at the pediatric dentistry consultation is described as a basic behavioral control technique used to avoid inadequate conduct during a consultation and to assist communication between the patient, the dentist and the parents. This technique is used depending on the age factor, the child's psychological development, the context of the consultation and the sociocultural family factors. The objective of this work is to make a literature systematic review on the effectiveness of the parental absence/presence technique and its effect on the child's anxiety and behavior. Multiple studies were selected based on the recommendations from the Preferred report items guide for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyzes (PRISMA) that use a comparative method between the absence and presence of parents in the consultation with a goal of child's behavior or anxiety evaluation. The absence/presence technique, being a non-invasive technique, is widely applied for behavior control. However, the results of the studies are heterogeneous, the majority did not demonstrate statistically significant differences between the groups (absence / presence of parents) of the evaluated parameters issued for child's anxiety and behavior control.
