Abstract(s)
Objective: Evaluate and compare the mechanical behavior, namely, the tensile strength of silk suture and polyamide suture, in the context of oral surgery. Methods: During the elaboration of this systematic review, the timeframe of the published articles used was between January 1, 2018 and April 3, 2023, using three different electronic databases: ScienceDirect, B-ON e PubMed. The research terms were defined, articulated using boolean operators and exclusion criteria were stipulated. A total of 12 scientific articles were included in this review. Subject: Non-resorbable sutures, such a silk, are the most commonly used materials in dentistry for surgical wound closure. The tensile strength is an important factor to consider when selecting a suture, so it is relevant to compare this characteristic between two of the most used sutures.
