Abstract(s)
The objective of this study was to perform a literature review on non - carious cervical lesions. To reach the expected objective, a review of the literature on etiological factors, diagnosis, clinical characteristics and treatments was carried out. The methodological course was based on a descriptive theoretical research, through documentary analysis, using electronic documents - articles published in magazines and printed documents - graduation and postgraduate studies and dissertations. The temporal limit was between 1994 and 2017 with the following Keywords: Noncarious cervical lesion, Abrasion, Abfraction and Erosion. Non-carious cervical lesions (LCNC) are a major challenge in the practice of Dentistry. Its multifactorial features are responsible for its enormous complexity. According to the present etiological agents can be classified in erosion, abrasion and abfraction lesions. These can occur as a result of the interaction of several factors, such as: complex occlusal forces, acidity of the food, abrasion caused by toothbrushing, among others. The clinical characteristics of non-carious cervical lesions are associated with the etiological factors present and at the stage where the lesion is located. The treatment of these non-carious cervical lesions is through restorations, concomitant with the elimination of etiological factors, otherwise all treatment will be doomed to failure. It was concluded that LCNC has a multifactorial etiology that is difficult to diagnose, where diagnosis is the basis for the treatment plan and removal of causal factors, the main way to achieve success in treatment, and preventive treatments should be the of first choice.
